The Truth About Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome isn’t a problem…

It’s a sign you’re moving in the right direction.

A sign you’re pursuing something that demands more of you.

When I worked in fast food as a teenager, there was no imposter syndrome.

When I was a warehouse worker, same thing.

But when I started working in tech, imposter syndrome kicked my a** on an almost daily basis. (It still does)

Over time I realized it’ s not because I’m actually an “imposter”.

It’s because I’m doing something that scares me, pushes me toward my potential, and forces me out of my comfort zone.

And that’s a good thing.

Yes, imposter syndrome is good.

It might feel like everyone around you is doing more, or is smarter, or is better, but here’s the big secret… Those people are feeling imposter syndrome too!

Everyone feels it.

Some of the most successful people in the world talk about how they still deal with imposter syndrome.

So next time that familiar feeling of self doubt pops up, shift your mindset and remember this:

Imposter syndrome doesn’t mean you’re a failure, and it’s not a sign to stop or quit. It’s a sign that you’re doing exactly what you need to be doing.

Keep up the great work.
